About The Farm

Nancy Marshall, the founder of Compass Rose Farm Sanctuary, began working with rescued pot-bellied pigs while living in Nashville, Indiana in 2019.

After several adoptions, Nancy’s commitment to the care of these amazing animals was firmly established, but it quickly became obvious that the size and layout of the Nashville property were inadequate for development of the sanctuary she envisioned.

Nancy then began the search for a new property, and in 2022 she found the beautiful farm in Spencer Indiana that we now call home

In 2023 the farm was officially designated a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and Compass Rose is now a safe haven for over 250 animals, including pigs, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, and guinea fowl.

Our Mission

Compass Rose Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c) non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifelong sanctuary for farm animals rescued from situations of abuse, neglect, financial hardship, and many other circumstances.  Our mission is to support and enhance the well-being of farm residents through excellent nutrition and veterinary care, as well as through the provision of safe, comfortable, and appropriate living environments.

We love what we do, and we enjoy sharing our work within our communities.  We truly believe that engaging with animals is the most powerful way that humans can learn about them and in turn make impactful choices about the ways in which individuals and societies treat them.  Our vision is the creation of a fully accessible farm setting in which people of all abilities and walks of life can gain understanding and empathy for farm animals through direct interaction.
